This position will require driving our Ice Cream Truck, along with scooping on the truck, plus working the occasional event. Our Truck is based at our Cambie store and goes to English Bay, yes on the beach, each day from late April to late September. Employment can continue in a different role through the winter if interested and positions are available.

A regular (Class 5) driver’s license is a must, along with being comfortable driving a small truck with an easy route to the beach!

Key responsibilities:

Customer Service

Greet every customer warmly and enthusiastically.
Engage customers with product knowledge including flavours, ingredients, and local suppliers.
Offer samples and guide customers through flavour selection.
Thank customers and ensure a positive, welcoming experience.

Scooping & Waffle Cones

Scoop ice cream consistently in weight and size to meet quality standards.
Coordinate scoop sizes with coworkers for uniformity.
Accommodate allergy requests safely and confidently.
Make high-quality waffle cones and thoroughly clean the station after use.

Payments & Till

Process debit/credit, cash, and gift card transactions accurately.
Enforce store policies politely.

Truck Operations & Driving

Safely drive the Truck to designated work locations.
Complete opening and closing checklists every shift.
Maintain cleanliness of the Truck: wipe surfaces, manage dishwashing, restock supplies.
Operate truck equipment (electrical panel, water tank, generator, and battery systems) per the Truck Manual, training to be provided.
Practice FIFO (first in, first out) with all inventory.

Health & Food Safety

Follow all food safety and health standards at all times.
Wash hands regularly and maintain proper dress code.
Prevent cross-contamination between flavours.

Teamwork & Communication

Communicate open with Shift Leaders and Managers.
Hold each other accountable with friendly reminders.
Be proactive - ask what needs to be done and keep an eye on truck needs.
Submit availability on time and manage your own shift coverage.

Requirements:

Valid Class 5 driver's license - required.
Customer service or front-of-house experience.
Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
Reliability, punctuality, and strong work ethic.
Enthusiasm for learning and trying new things.
Comfortable working in a small, fast-paced environment.
Availability to work at least 3 shifts per week, including weekend (Friday-Sunday) availability.
